Instructor Certification at Amatrol in Jeffersonville, Indiana
20-24 February, 2006
From 20-24 February, 2006 a course-specific part of the Instructor Certification course was held at the site of our partner Amatrol in Jeffersonville, Indiana, being the first Instructor Certification event to take place in the United States.
Each day during the week, Siemens Technik Akademie (STA) Berlin faculty Gerd Voigt and Michael Stopp covered courses 3 and 4 of Level of the Siemens Mechatronic Systems Certification Program (SMSCP). The 13 participating instructors learned about Pneumatic and Hydraulic Control Circuit as well as Digital Fundamentals and Programmable Logic Controllers, covering theory and practice. In this context, they created sample lessons and presented their ideas and findings in front of the other participants. They also received an introduction to SIMIT-software and, together with STA Berlin faculty, prepared a troubleshooting exercise for the instructors to test their understanding. Discussion of program implementation and development of test questions were other important aspects of the weeklong event.
