Piedmont Technical College is located in Greenwood, South Carolina and has several centers in the region, as well as a virtual campus accessible anywhere. 

In the fall of 2008 the new Mechatronics Technology program was introduced with 14 students participating in the program. Now, one year later, the program has increased to 29 students. Three full-time faculty of PTC have been certified in Siemens Level 1 & Level 2 Certifications and as a result of that training, are changing the teaching methodologies they use in the program courses to be more systems based. This has proven to be very valuable to the students understanding of the automated and computerized systems used in industry and has made the courses much more interactive.
