From March 9 to 13, 2009, a Level 1 Instructor Certification event was held at Bowling Green Technical College in Kentucky as a follow-up course to the System Approach Paradigm Week that took place at Siemens Technik Akademie (STA) Berlin in December 2008.
Teachers and engineers from STA Berlin and the Kentucky Community and Technical College System led the course, which prepares Certified Instructors to deliver Siemens Mechatronic Systems Certification Program (SMSCP) Level 1 courses at their colleges in Kentucky, Virginia and Pennsylvania.
The weeklong course covered all four courses of Level 1 and gave insights on how to arrange the SMSCP-related lessons. Additionally, the instructors sat in on presentations of sample lessons as well as sample troubleshooting structures for each course. With this input, participants created their own sample lessons to present their understanding of the course materials and of System Approach. Moreover, discussions were held about the best methods of program implementation, course content and the creation of exam questions. In their free time, participants visited the Chevrolet Corvette plant, which is located nearby.
