Recently, an article was published in the Cumberland Business Journal about Motlow’s State Community College (MSCC) Mechatronics Program and how they prepare skilled workers.

On January 14, the MSCC campus in McMinnville began offering the Siemens Mechatronic Systems Certification Program (SMSCP) due to the need to find a way to provide local industries with a more technically skilled and educated work force. Todd Herzog, chamber Business Division Director and president/owner of Accu-Router in Morrison, recognized the problem as affecting not only his own company, but also other companies across the area like for example Chattanooga's Volkswagen production facility. The availability of a comprehensive skills industry standard mechatronics certification like the SMSCP within Warren County could provide the local work force with an advantage.
